SuperPanther's four self-developed core technologies were awarded the "World Innovation" prize at the IAA.
Sep 04,2024

Shortly before the opening of the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, SuperPanther submitted applications for four of its self-developed core technologies to the event organizers: the Intelligent Energy Management System (IEM), the eAxle system with decentralized, demand-controlled power delivery, the 876V integrated high-voltage domain control, and the ultra-low-temperature thermal management system (TMS). All four technologies were honored with the prestigious title of "World Innovation."

The "World Innovation" title is awarded by IAA Transportation, a leading platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, and the transport sector, recognizing SuperPanther's technological innovations on a global scale. At the time of this announcement, IAA had awarded a total of 11 products with the "World Innovation" title, with SuperPanther claiming four of them.

This marks a significant highlight of SuperPanther's first presentation in Europe and underscores IAA’s recognition of the company's technological innovation capabilities.

The recognition of all four in-house developed core technologies is not only a testament to SuperPanther's dedication to independent R&D and its pursuit of a "net zero emissions" goal but also an encouragement for its continued innovation. SuperPanther remains committed to advancing the green transformation of the commercial vehicle industry and enhancing its in-house developed technologies, driving forward both sustainable development and technological progress in the sector.

SuperPanther's four "World Innovation" technologies

SuperPanther Intelligent Predictive Energy Management System (IEM) for Electric Trucks

SuperPanther's intelligent energy management system optimizes the vehicle's energy efficiency, enhancing the overall driving experience. By precisely controlling the flow of high- and low-voltage energy, IEM significantly improves total energy efficiency. All hardware and software components of the powertrain are in-house developments, enabling full vehicle digitalization and accurate monitoring of energy consumption.

Using AI algorithms, the system dynamically adjusts the energy flow in real-time based on factors such as route, terrain, traffic conditions, weather, and temperature. It accurately predicts upcoming road conditions and assists the driver in choosing the optimal driving style. Additionally, the system continuously learns from driving data, further enhancing energy efficiency.

SuperPanther's self-developed, distributed/centralized eAxle system

The SuperPanther 6x4 eAxle system features an innovative design with two distributed electric motors on the front axle and a central two-speed electric motor on the rear axle. This configuration allows flexible adaptation to various driving modes and ensures efficient power transmission under different conditions. AI algorithms optimize energy flow and support effective energy recovery. Combined with an advanced oil-water cooling system and an active lubrication system, this design improves the efficiency and longevity of the powertrain.

The 4x2 and 6x2 eAxle models from SuperPanther feature a central dual-motor drive system with a mechanical differential, which adjusts to different operating conditions. Each electric eAxle is equipped with a two-speed drive module at the front and a one-speed drive module at the rear, enabling efficient power combinations that enhance start-up, climbing, and cruising performance while reducing operating costs. The system includes a low-speed, high-torque motor, an oil-water cooling system, an active lubrication system, and a bridge housing that improves heat dissipation and load capacity, ensuring reliability and durability.

Superpanther 876V Integrated High-voltage Domain Control

The integrated high-voltage domain from SuperPanther, rated at 876V, is a leading model in the global heavy-duty vehicle industry. This 9-in-1 high-voltage controller combines multiple functions in a compact housing: an efficient DC-DC converter delivering up to 10 kW of low-voltage power, support for 220V/230V single-phase AC output up to 3 kW for cabin appliances, an AC motor inverter for electric air and oil pumps, and an intelligent power distribution interface for expanding truck functionalities.

Advanced SiC power semiconductors provide high efficiency and performance, enabling the inverters to deliver a peak output of 346 kW for a single PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor) and increasing the total output of the three electric motors in the powertrain to over 1 megawatt. When combined with two eAxles, this setup generates over 75,000 Nm of torque. The motor inverter achieves an efficiency of over 97%, reducing energy consumption and extending range. Intelligent torque vectoring algorithms ensure precise torque distribution across all electric motors, enhancing safety across various road conditions.

Ultra Low Temperature Heat Pump with Natural and Environmentally Friendly Refrigerant

SuperPanther's proprietary thermal management system (TMS) for ultra-low temperatures provides a comprehensive solution for trucks, controlling batteries, power electronics, motors, and the cabin. Utilizing an innovative, eco-friendly refrigerant, the heat pump system operates efficiently down to -30°C and reduces reliance on high-voltage heaters (HVH), significantly increasing the coefficient of performance (COP) in winter. Unlike conventional heat pumps that only function down to -10°C, our technology extends the operating range to much lower temperatures.

Tests show that SuperPanther's TMS can improve range by over 15% in low-temperature conditions. Its scalable design adapts to various truck platforms and optimizes heating and cooling functions as needed. Additionally, the TMS addresses technical challenges such as refrigerant leaks, high-temperature sealings, and complex coolant circuits. By employing our own developed hardware and software, we significantly enhance the safe use of refrigerants.
